Media showreel analysis

This is a showreel created by a young actor called Jason Farries, the showreel has a duration of 3 minutes 21 second. The showreel demonstrates Jason's acting skills in varies different movie genres, this gives the audience an idea of what his acting work looks like in different movie genres. The showreel consists of a 5 seconds intro which is a in focus close-up shot of the actor with his name and a subheading (showreel) to show audiences what type of content the video is about. The outro/ending of the showreel starts to fade in at 3:13sec and has a length of 8 seconds where the actor leaves his contact information and the agent company information behind, this is done to give the audience the option to reach the actor or the agency that they work with. The showreel is constructed by using scenes from five different movies Jason has started in, which include An inspector calls, The unfortunate fate of Felix Hill, Cunk on Britain- BBC, Death of a Miser and The brawler. All the movie scenes in the showreel consist of the same camera shots and angles, those are close up, medium close up, over the shoulder, two shot, medium long shot and medium shot. These camera angles were chosen to create a sharp snappy effect between movie scenes so the audience don't get bored and to show off his acting skills from different angles and sizes.

This is useful as it helps me understand the construction of a showreel and what edits to use to make it as interesting and appealing for the audience to suck their interest into my product/work, for example I could use more cinematography and camera angles like MCU, CU, over the shoulder and medium shot to make my showreel more interesting.

This is my secound existing showreel example, this time this showreel just consists of photography work from around the world. This showreel was created by David Tabagari, it has a length of 2mins and 22sec, the intro only lasts 5 seconds but it introduces the photographer and a quick description of what the content is about, also it is clear and easy to read for audiences while being short and sanppy and showing high end editing and the element of professionalism. The showreel demonstrates varies styles day to day photos of  the human population. The creator uses lots ISO shutter speed and camera angles (Establishment shot, MCU, MS, CU, high angle shot, low angle shot, LS, VLS.) The photo have different timers on them depending on the shot size and detail. Some of the photos are in sequels depending on the context of the photos, bubbly key music is added to the showreel and with the help of folio sounds of the outside, explosions, sirens, traffic, communications etc. to make the audience feel in the moment of when the photo was taken and what was happening in the environment at the moment and give the audience a outburst of feelings while the photos and sounds change.

This is useful to me as I can apply the folio sounds into my photography element of my showreel to make it more interesting and make the audience feel like their in the moment of the photo being took at the place also i could add the photo sequels to make it more snappy and eye catching.
